Lewis Hamilton holds off Ferrari for Monza pole

World Champion Lewis Hamilton grabbed his 7th successsive pole of the season and 49th in his F1 career at Monza, Italy. He also held off challenge from the Italian marque Ferrari with both their drivers Raikkonen and Vettel in top form in qualifying displacing Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg.

Raikonen will start in the front row alongside Hamilton while Vettel and Rosberg share row 2. Willams drivers Massa and Bottas share row 3 ahead of Segio Perez of Force India in 7th and Grosjean (Lotus) in 8th. Nico Hulkenberg ( Force India) and Marcus Ericsson (Sauber) round off the top 10.

Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso qualified 16th and 17th on the grid in their McLarens but will start at the back of the gird due to an engine change penalty.
