Rabindra improves pace in BRDC F4 Round 2 in Rockingham, UK

Bengaluru boy Akhil Rabindra racing int he BRDC Formula 4 Championship for team Douglas Motorsports showed some improved pace in the scound round of the championship held at Rockingham, UK.

Akhil, winner of the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence 2013–2014 programme, topped the first practice session in Rockingham only to be interrupted by rain.

While figthing for 3rd in Race 1 disaster struck after making contact with another and had to finish 11th. However he recovered from to finished 7th from starting 11th in a wet Race 2. In Race 3 he was running 3rd and faced a flat tyre after a hit only to finish 15th.

His previous best finish was 10th in Round 1 – Race 2 at Oulton Park and it sure seems that Akhil is slowly climbing  up the ladder.

Its also noted that little known Ameya Vaidyanathan, a london based Indian driver finished 2nd in Race 2 at Rockingham but Akhil ranks 13th in the championship with 57points as opposed to Ameya's 17th with 47points.

Akhil Rabindra said "Just finished the second round of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship. It was full of ups and downs. The official practice began on a promising note where I started off the first session as the fastest. However, I was a little unlucky during the races.

In race 1, I started at P11 and made it up to P3 even though my car got damaged by an incident on track. After a while I dropped to P4 and then made contact with another car in the last lap to go back to P11. Race 2 was a wet race where I started P11, went up to P4 and finished P7. Finally, race 3 saw me starting P8 and maintaining a steady P3 position but after getting hit, I had a flat tyre. The tyre change took up time so I could only catch up and finish to P15.

While the results of each race could have been better, the good news is that my pace has improved and come up to speed this weekend. I was unlucky this time but the form and pace gained this weekend only makes me stronger and faster for the next round coming up in Silverstone.

I would like to thank all of you for your continued support and hope to share some victories here soon!"
