Jorge Lorenzo wins a complete weekend in Jerez
Two times world champion Jorge Lorenzo wins in homeland Spain with a complete domination of all sessions and from start to finish in the race. It was a special come back to form ride by the Yamaha rider who also took home an advance birthday present for himself.
Lorenzo looked demonish the whole weekend and determined to win his home grand prix with compatriot Marquez riding injured and Pedrosa staying out of race.
At the lights Lorenzo rocketed from pole with Marquez, Pol Espargaro and Rossi following close behind. Marquez was closely following the rocketing Lorenzo but wasnt looking like mounting a challenge while Rossi was held up behind Pol Espargaro on the Tech3 Yamaha with Aleix Espargaro on the Suzuki running 5th . Andrea Iannone on the Ducati made the worst start dropping behind while his team mate Andrea Dovizioso was struglling and made a mistake on the braking and running off track.
As Lorenzo and Marquez started to pull away, Rossi lost time running behind Pol until making a move on lap 5.
Lorenzo was so strong and started to make a cushion over Marquez and Rossi too looked out of the challenge.
With 15laps to go Rossi suddenly started to close in on Marquez and reducing the gap to from 2seconds to 1 second which almost looked like a repeat of Argentina a few weeks ago. But Marquez who was struggling with a injured finger mustered his power to overcome Rossi´s attack to regain his 2second lead.
Lorenzo with a masterful ride crossed the chequered flag 5.5secs clear of Marquez while Rossi dropped further 5seconds behind after settling to finish the race with taking too much risks.
After 4 rounds Rossi leads the championship followed by Dovizioso and Lorenzo rising up to 3rd with Marquez in 4th.
