Fifth and sixth for Aditya Patel in Hungaroring GT3
July 7: India’s Aditya Patel and his Portuguese teammate Cesar Campanico endured a tough weekend at Hungaroring in the fourth round of the International GT Open, but fought hard to finish a commendable fifth and sixth in Race 1 and Race 2 respectively in the GTS (GT3) category.
Driving for Team Nova Driver, the duo found it difficult to match the kind of speed they displayed in the third round in Jerez last month, where they won the opening race in the GT3 category while also finishing second in the overall race.
Speaking after Race 1, Aditya Patel, who is sponsored by JK Tyre, Amante and Audi India, said, “It was tough for us, especially coming off a win in Jerez, to having to fight hard just to stay in the top five. Unfortunately the track doesn’t suit our car as well as it suits our competition.”
About Race 2, the Team Nova Driver page of Facebook said: “The Audi R8 LMS Ultra was no par for the Ferrari 458 Italia, very strong on the slow and twisted Hungaroring race track. So, Campanico and Patel gave the maximum and, in a realistic way, ended this second race in the sixth place in the GTS category.”
The next round will be held at Silverstone between July 18 and 20.
