JK Tyre is accredited with the concept of introducing karting in the country. The company started off with 4–stroke karting and packaged the event as an evening of entertainment with a bit of racing to connect with Indian psyche. Once karting was established, a programme for aspiring professionals was put in place and in the year 2000, JK Tyre instituted the four–stroke karting championship. The city of Delhi played host to few rounds of the championship with events being hosted at Pragati Maidan, Connaught Place & at the historic India Gate. The events saw the likes of Narain Karthikeyan, Karun Chandhok and Armaan Ebrahim dazzle the crowds with sheer speed. It was in 2004 that the two–stroke karting championship was introduced to give young drivers a taste of professional karting as practised across the world. Armaan Ebrahim currently racing in the FIA GT World Series, Aditya Patel racing in ADAC GT Masters, Jehan Daruvala–first Indian to become the British Karting Champion, Kush Maini–first Indian to win a World Series Karting race at the La Conca International Circuit in Italy have all learnt the ropes of racing from JK’s karting championship.
