Mixed weekend at Misano for Parth Ghorpade 

28 July 2013, Misano, Italy: Rounfd 5 of the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps was held at the Misano World Circuit . Even by Indian standards, the weather was hot. The weekend began well with Parth finshing at P 10 at the end of Free Practice on Friday. Even though the gap to the drivers ahead and behind him was minimal, it was expected he would qualify in the top 5 of his group. However, change of track conditions, a slightly different handling car, and some avoidable errors cost him a couple of tenths, enough to send him down 4 places to P9 in Group A. This was the first time the car and driver combination had disappointed in qualifying.

Starting from row 9 is never easy, but a good start in Race 1 saw him move up to P13 by lap 4 . However a hit from the rear broke the diffuser, losing speed and positions to eventually finish 15th.

In Race 2 he started From row 8, and again had a decent start. But a few corners later a spinning car forced him to take avoiding action and drop to P 20 at the end of the lap. From here he fought his way up the order to finish 11th , losing out on a points finish by a few metres. Once he was running on his own towards the end of the race his pace was in the top 5. Had the first lap been clean, he could have been fighting for the top 6 positions.
