Narain Karthikey declared winner in Silverstone as eventual winner gets penalized
India´s ex–Formula 1 driver Narain Karthikeyan dominated practice session and Qualified in pole for the AutoGP Silverstone round after switching to a new team – SuperNova Racing. Narain previously raced for Zele Racing Team in the opening three rounds with Indian origined Britisher Luciano (Akshay) Bacheta as team mate but problems with pitstops and team errors in Hungary forced Narain to quit the team.
The switch Super Nova racing brought immediate boost to Narain as he topped the Friday Practice Sessions and took pole in Qualifying.
In the race, Narain led and controlled the race with great pace and consistency over Kevin Giovesi but unfortunately loosing the lead to Kevin during the pit stop. Kevin crossed the line first followed by a dejected Narain and his team mate Vittorio Ghirelli in third. Within few minute the race stewards declared Narain as race winner and handed a 1minute penalty to Kevin for doing an illegal pitstop on the last lap. Kevin as a result of the penalty ends up 13th and the in others in the top 12 are promoted one up.
Narain´s victory is a deserved one after topping in all the sessions including the race. Super Nova Team also score second straight victory and a 1–2 in Silverstone.
