2015 Karting starts on an exciting note
Bengaluru : Hot & dusty conditions prevailed for Round 1 of the JK MMS Kart Open series at the new Meco Kartopia Circuit outside Bengaluru.
All three categories witnessed good competition in the event which is India’s first Karting event of the 2015 season. The Micro for ages 7 to 12 years, juniors for 13 to 16 & Seniors for 15 & over, all witnessed practice, qualifying & 4 races in the day.
The senior witnessed numerous battles throughout the grid, with the Rayo Racing trio of Ameya Bafna, Arya Gandhi & Nayan Chatterjee providing the most entertainment. Ameya finished 2nd in the first 3 races of the day & bagged the 2nd place overall podium for Round 1. He was followed by Rayo Racing team mate – Arya Gandhi in 3rd overall. Ricky Donison of BPC Racing won the Round.
The junior category witnessed even more intense racing. Aaroh Ravindra of Rayo Racing won the first race of the day, but could not maintain his pace to finish race 2 in 2nd & race 3 in 3rd place. He went all out for the last race to win it in style ahead of Akash Gowda of Meco Racing. Akash won the 2nd & 3rd races of the day to win the overall for Round 1. Aaroh was 2nd followed by his Rayo Racing Team mate – Mohammed Nalwalla. Another Rayo Racing team mate – Aanjan Patodia came 2nd overall in the Rookie Cup category.
Nikhil Bohra of Meco Racing dominated the Micro category to win Round 1 comfortably.
Round 2 will be held at the same venue tomorrow.
