Prashanth Tharani is all set to race in Europe in the Zandvoort 12hrs Endurance with a Renault Clio this weekend
Chennai, 28th May: Prashanth Tharani will be making his European debut by participatng in the 12hours of Zandvoort endurance event slated to be held on the 30th and the 31st of May. The event will take place on the historical circuit "Circuit park Zandvoort". He will be the only Indian on the grid and will be participating in the A2 (touring cars upto 2000cc) in a Renault Clio touring car(2000 cc) .
The A2 class is one of the classes with the highest number of entries and should make for a very interesting race. Prashanth will be driving for Team Speedlover Motorsport. This is the same team that he was supposed to drive for in the Dubai 24hour race but ended up racing for another team (Cor Euser Racing) due to technical issues within the team. The team has offered a substantial discount/ part sponsor on the race seat because of his performance in the 2014 Dubai 24 hour race (fastest lap time within the team). He will be partnered by two other drivers for this event.
It so happens that his younger brother, Karthik Tharanisingh will also be racing on the same weekend in India. Karthik will be taking part in the 2014 VW Polo R Cup on the very same weekend that he will be making his European debut. The Tharani brothers will be on the track both in Europe and India at the same time and its a first of its kind in India where two brothers are taking part in two different race in different continents at the same time. Karthik took part in the pre–season testing held on the Kari Motor Speedway the past weekend undergoing physical training.
Karthik will be joining Prashanth for the 24hours of Barcelona to be held in the month of September and that will be his international debut. The Tharani brothers will be driving a Renault Clio or a Seat Leon Supercopa car in the 24hours of Barcelona.
Prashanth Tharani said "I´m extremely happy to share this as its a personal milestone for me as a racing driver to be stepping into the European racing arena and for my family to be racing in two different continents on the same day. We have struggled to achieve this against all odds and hope you will support us."
