THE DAY VETTEL CAN CREATE HISTORY IN INDIA
– Vettel can create history in India by clinching his 4th world title
– All Vettel needs is 75points over Alonso to seal the championship at Buddh with 3 races remaining.
Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull has dominated every race in Hungary and has dominated every session so far in India. The German was so confident on his pace he came out late in Q3 to clock his record lap time for pole 4mins ahead of the chequered flag with soft tyres while team mate Webber went for a different strategy with Medium compounds.
Vettel and Red Bull are so strong now while leaving the opposition to fight for the remaining positions in the championship with the reigning world champion already 90points ahead of closest rival Alonso on the Ferrari while 75point is enough to grab the title after the Indian GP.
Red Bull is confident about its strategy for the race and Vettel is only concerned about a possible threat from team mate Webber who is on a different strategy and not about Ferrari or Mercedes or Lotus.
Vettel has won twice in this circuit in Noida with utter dominance and will try to do the same again this year too while he also has the chance to seal the title here.
All Vettel needs is 75 points over Ferrari´sFernando Alonso to seal the fourth consecutive world championship and create history in India. Even if Vettel and Alonso end on a tie in Brazil, the championship would favor the most victorious driver in the season and that would be undoubtedly SebastianVettel.
To crown the world champion in Buddht would be amazing for India as it faces serious doubts on its future in the F1 calendar.
Some may call it boring to see Vettel winning, but with the championship crowning in India would be a highlight with his record of being the youngest four time world champion and to be named among the few greats who have won four world titles in Formula 1 with the likes Fangio, Prost & Schumacher.
To clinch the title the mathematics are
– Vettel can finish in any position and Alonso finishes 3rd or lower
– Vettel should finish eight or higher and Alonso finishes 2nd
– Vettel should finish fifth if Alonso wins
After the qualifying session, Vettel starts on pole but with a soft trye while championship rival Alonso will start from the 4th row on the mediums. Alonso and Webber have gone by the medium compound strategy while Webber has a chance for the victory and Alonso can climb the podium.
Sebastian Vettel : "We have been getting a lot of questions about the Championship this weekend, but we´ll keep doing what we´ve done in the past, just focusing on every single step – we won´t change that for tomorrow, or the next couple of races,
We´ve worked hard to get here and tomorrow is a long race. With the strategy, I think it´s always tricky do the right thing, but we have a good package so we should be in good shape."
Fernando Alonso : “Before qualifying we looked at what might be the best strategy and it was very difficult to choose between two possibilities of equal worth. Using the Soft tyres in Q3, we could have aspired to a better starting position, while the Mediums would mean running a race with no traffic, because if the softer compound follows the pattern we have seen so far, then those starting with it will have to stop very early, around lap six. This would put them behind a group of cars that will stay out until lap 30. It’s true that at some point, I too will have to fit the Softs, which will signal a more difficult moment and we must be prepared for that.
On Friday, I did fifteen or sixteen laps on them, while today just three and that’s why it’s absolutely impossible to say how it will go tomorrow. Only after the chequered flag will we know which was the right choice. The good thing about this decision is that, in putting two cars in the race on different strategies, at least one of us, me or Felipe, should be in a position to help the team in its goal of finishing second in the Constructors’ World Championship, which is our priority now”.
Lets tune into the race and see what happens!!
