Valentino Rossi confirms a new Moto3 World Championship team to support Italian riders
Its officially confirmed that an agreement has been signed between Valentino Rossi´s company VR46 and SKY Sports to sport a Moto3 World Championship Team in 2014 to give oppurtunity to young Italian riders to rise in MotoGP. The 7time World Champion has already started a dirt track ranch and has been training with young riders inbetween races.
While talks have been on air about the team for past few months and after several meetings with Italian Motorcycling Federation, its now confirmed and an application alreadyhas been sent to FIM for participation in 2014. Developing Italian rider for the top level with good ride will be the primary aim of the team as Italian riders have not made an impact in the past few years.
Valentino Rossi commented on SKY sports website: "We joined Sky to give the Italian riders the opportunity to be competitive and reach the highest levels."
VR46 Team will run KTM bikes in the Moto3 category with sponsorship from SKY Sports who are planning broadcast all MotoGP races from 2014 in all platforms in Italy.
The word from Gazzetta Italy is that Rossi´s former 125cc, 2500cc mechanic Rossano Brazzi will lead the technical part and the riders will be Romano Fenati and possibly Rossi´s half brother Luca Marini.
