Josh Hill quits Motor Racing at 22
Joshua Hill, son of 1996 F1 champion Damon Hill and grand son of 1962, 1968 F1 champion Graham Hill, quits motor racing. The 22yr old racer was racing in Euro F3 series and also won the first race of MRF F2000 Challenge in Chennai in Februrary.
Josh tweeted about his retirement from motor racing and looking out for a new career elsewhere late yesterday evening.
@joshhillracing"Thanks for all the support you´ve given me, it means the world. But I feel like my future lies elsewhere. Thanks, I am eternally grateful."
Later he gave an official statement to the media:
Joshua Hill said “Coming from the Hill family it was inevitable that I would be drawn to racing. I have learned an enormous amount and really enjoyed the experience, but I do not want to compete unless I am 100 percent devoted, As I now have ambitions in other fields I feel it is the right move to withdraw from racing.”
Damon Hill further explained “Being born into a racing dynasty is not something many of us can easily relate to. It is entirely understandable if Josh has to find out if racing is his main calling or not."
“So it is with some sadness that we make this announcement. I´m sure there will be many disappointed ‘Hill´ fans out there but we hope they will be understanding. It is sometimes braver to stop than to carry on. He has my total support as always".
Josh Hill was expected to be the third generation racer in F1 following the foot steps of father Damon Hill and grand father Graham Hill. He started racing in 2008 and was currently taking part in the Euro F3 Series. He also took part in the MRF F2000 Challenge in Chennai earlier in February this year and won the first race of the Chennai round. He was cheered by the public and felt electric about the Chennai atmosphere and was extremely happy that he won the first race of the weekend.
He further tweeted today: @joshhillracing "am extremely touched by the response I´ve had on my decision, but time to look to the future! Might even let you all know :)"
We wish him all the best for his future.
