Nico Rosberg grabs third consecutive pole of the season with his Mercedes at Monaco
Nico Rosberg grabbed his third consecutive pole of the season and fourth consecutive for Mercedes with complete domination in all practice sessions and qualifying at Monaco. The single lap pace of the Mercedes gave another commanding performance for the team in qualifying with both drivers Rosberg and Hamilton on front.
Qualfying performance is very vital for the race results as overtaking will be very tough in the streets of Monaco and Mercedes has an advantage for the race with their front row lockout yet the team is still vary about their tyre wear and full race pace. The Red Bulls of Vettel and Webber grabbed the second row on the grid while the third row is shared by Raikkonen on the Lotus and Alonso on the Lotus.
Massa who crashed his Ferrari heavily during the final practice was unable to take part in the qualifying while Jules Bianchi was unable to set a time in the qualifying as his Marussia retired with smoke on the entry lap of Q1.
