FDA – A Passage to India… at Fiorano
Maranello, 8 May – An Indian driver has driven on the Fiorano track for the first time. 20 year old Parth Ghorpade carried out a test at the wheel of a Formula 3 car run by the Ferrari Driver Academy, as his prize for being the best Asian driver in the 2012 Formula Pilota series, held in China.
Parth completed no less than 75 laps of Ferrari’s private track, gradually gaining confidence and showing a strong ability to learn the characteristics of a car that was not only completely new to him, but also more powerful than anything he was used to.
“I am always surprised when faced with the speed of young drivers, who even though relatively inexperienced, quickly learn how to exploit the machine they are given, when supported in the right way,” FDA Director Luca Baldisserri told www.ferrari.com after the test. “I think it was a nice experience for him and I believe that guys like Parth and other talented youngsters who grow up in countries where motor sport has not yet taken root, need opportunities like this to grow and show what they can do.”
