Mahi Racing Team India scores historic maiden victory in WSS in Australia
Mahi Racing Team India Kawasaki promoted by Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored its maiden victory in the World Supersport championship season opener in Australia. Team´s top rider and reigning champion Kenan Sofuoglu of Turkey took his 32nd win in this class while taking the team to its first ever win.
Its another historic achievement for the Indian Motorsports with an Indian owned team winning a race in the World Championships.
Mahi Racing´s Kenan Sofuoglu and Fabien Foret started behind poleman Sam Lowes (Yamaha) who was considered to be the favorite for the victory after strong showing in the pre–season tests and Qualifying but multiple champion Sofuoglu forced his way to victory with his factory supported Kawasaki.
The battle between Sofuoglu and Lowes was intense all through the race until the final few laps which saw the Mahi Racing Team rider Sofuoglu deliver fews amazing fastest laps to open up a cushion of 1.8secs while claim victory and also setting the new lap record of 1´33.283 for Philip Island in WSS category.
Mahi Racing Team India will be a fighting force in the 2013 WSS championship and the team has started off the2013 season with the right note claiming historic maiden victory for themselves and for the country in world level racing.
Racing and cricketing fans in India were jubliant after the historic victory by an Indian team promoted by MS Dhoni, Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna, former cricket Arun Pandey, heart surgeon Nandish Domlur and managed by former national racer Amit Sandill.
