Whitmarsh : Hamilton will realize mistake

In a recent interview to Formula 1.com, McLaren´s Team principal – Martin Whitmarsh said that Hamilton would realize today that he made a mistake by switching to rival team Mercedes for 2013. 

Martin also quote that Hamilton was offered more money than anyone but he opted to go out and he doesn´t understand why?.

Hamilton´s move surprised him but did not shock him when the driver revealed the news right after the Singapore GP says the team chief who knew Hamilton from the age of 11 and through the long association with McLaren.

Martin also hopes that Hamilton thinks today that he’s made an awful mistake and  he thinks that next year. He’s made that decision and he has to live with that decision and might also have started to regret the move.

On a philosophical note Whitmarsh stated Hamilton´s move as "I think, is that there comes a time when a man feels he has to flee the nest. I think it was a bit of that and a range of different emotions. He has been with us for so many years that I do not fully understand it."

He further quoted McLaren is a stronger team and they intend to beat Hamilton next year.

Hamilton´s championship hopes for 2012 came to an end after a series of reliability issues with the McLaren MP4–27 and more recently in Abu Dhabi while leading the race. The McLaren groomed boy went through serious issues and conflicts with the team this year and finally choose to opt out to rival team Mercedes for the year 2013 alongside Nico Rosberg.
