Prashant Tharani finishes 6th in Paul Riccard 24hrs Endurance
12 July 2015, France: Chennai based racer Prashant Tharani & team faired 6th in his class in the 24Hour of Paul Ricard in France. Driving a SEAT Supercopa in the A3T class of the race for Zest Racecar Engineering Team along with three other co-drivers. The event had about 200+ drivers from all around the world and Prashant was the only one from India. The race had a total of 60 cars among all categories and Prashant finished 35th overall and displayed some amazing driving skills and lap times much to the appreciation of the fraternity.
Prashant Tharani commented after the gruelling race "There were almost 60 cars that took the start and we finished 35th overall. We finished 6th in our class and highest among the seat supercopa cars. I managed to set the fastest time among the team drivers and that is sure a nice feeling to do that. It also caught the attention of the top running teams as I started clawing back their advantage. I had atleast two team bosses make contact with me to congratulate me on the pace I displayed.
It is indeed a nice feeling to get appreciated for your efforts. We were running up in 4th through the night but unfortunately we suffered a few mechanical issues with the car that forced us to pit for repairs. Though I was catching up with the others, the extra time spent in the pits made it impossible to catch the rest before the end of the race. That is motorsport though, and we are happy we finished the race . I will now be proceeding to Barcelona to test the new Seat Eurocup car that my team has just acquired. The test will be in preparation for the 24 hours of Barcelona in August and with the new car, we should be giving the other teams a run for their money."
