Newly formed Cadillac F1 team to use Ferrari engines

General Motors, in partnership with Andretti Racing and TWG Global, has announced the formation of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, set to debut in the 2026 season. This venture marks Cadillac as the first new F1 team since 2016 and aims to become a “full works” team by developing its own cars and power units in the future.

Andretti Racing, led by Formula 1 legend Mario Andretti, is a key partner in the project. Andretti, who serves as a director for the team, brings decades of racing expertise and a deep passion for the sport. His involvement symbolizes a return to Formula 1 for one of America’s most iconic motorsport figures.

The team will operate across multiple locations, including Indiana, Michigan, and England, focusing on advanced aerodynamics, powertrain innovation, and vehicle simulation technologies. The project also highlights General Motors’ commitment to leveraging F1’s cutting-edge innovations for global transportation advancements.

In a recent development, Ferrari has agreed to supply engines and gear box for the Cadillac Formula 1 Team’s entry in 2026 and the following years until they develop their own engines.
