Vishnu Prasad, Akhill Rabindra and Vizag’s Sailesh emerge winners in JK Tyre Racing Championship

Coimbatore, August 8, 2015: Vishnu Prasad bagged wins in both races of the Formula LGB4 category on Day One of the JK Tyre Racing Championship (first round) at the Kari Motor Speedway here on Saturday. Akhil Rabindra and Sailesh Bolisetti emerged victors in the JK Racing India Series and JK Tyre-Volkswagen Vento Cup respectively.

It proved to be a great start to the Series as 60 rookie and seasoned drivers will battle it out for top honours. Though the mercury soared, there was no stopping the competitors from giving their best and the spectators also remained glued to their seats.

Bangalore’s Rabindra, Chennai’s Ajay Kini (Dark Don Racing) and Vizag’s Sailesh Bolisetti emerged as pole sitters in the JK Racing India Series, Formula LGB4 and Volkswagen Vento Cup respectively.

After the qualifying sessions, the first race of the weekend was Race 1 of the Formula LGB4. As the lights went off, it was fight between the 19 drivers from start to finish. But the most heated duel in the 15-lap was between Kini and Prasad who displayed some bumper to bumper racing. In the end, Chennai’s Prasad (Team Meco Racing) managed to overtake Kini and took the chequered flag. Kini finished second and Delhi’s Rohit Khanna, who had started from the tenth place, finished third.

Prasad continued his dominance in the second race LGB4 race as well and won it. The surprise element was Chennai’s Raghul Rangaswamy (Meco Racing), who leapt ahead from the fourth place and finished a commendable second. New Delhi’s Karthik Shankar (Team Avalanche Racing) came in third.

Race 1 of the JK Racing India Series had 11 Indian and two international drivers scorch the track in the powerful JK FB02 cars. Rabindra, who started from pole position, was the man to beat as he maintained his lead throughout the 15-lap race. The real fight was for the second place as Dhruv Mohite (fourth on the grid) moved up the order and finished second. Vishnu Prasad could manage to graduate only to the third place after starting the race from fifth.

Due to technical glitches, TS Diljith, Sandeep Kumar, Akash Gowda and Krishnaraj Mahadik did not finish the race.

The JK Tyre-Volkswagen Vento Cup proved to be another thriller as 22 drivers battled it out for the top spot. The experienced Sailesh Bolisetti (from Vishakhapatnam) dominated the 15-lap race and eventually took the chequered flag. Finishing second was Anindith Reddy Konda from Hyderabad, while Karminder Singh from Delhi finished third.
